When I was living at my parents' house, a spider built her web (for some reason I always think of spiders as female) under the front porch light. That light attracted thick swarms of moths, and that spider came to be very, very fat. My brother and I watched it grow over the course of the summer - by the end of the fall, it was bigger than a silver dollar.

So, yes, that's a good place for a spiderweb.
